Original Works is our annual fundraiser, hosted by Compass Montessori Education Foundation. Money raised goes to teacher appreciation, community event childcare, extracurricular activities, trip support, grants, and more. This fundraiser is available to the whole school, because this page is here for you! It contains everything you need (directions, brochure, dates, order form, pricing sheet.) : OriginalWorks.com is a great company and we look forward to working with them. Please bring order form, artwork, and payment to the front office by October 21.

How it Works

Some classrooms enthusiastically  make their artwork collectively in the classroom and send home a packet. Other teachers may simply inform the parents and students that the fundraiser is happening, and leave it up to them to complete artwork, fill out an order form, and drop it off at school. Please reach out if you need assistance printing order forms, and they can be made available at the front desk.

Make your art following the guidelines below! There are specific rules, such as “no copyright infringement” and others that are cause for rejected orders every year. Your order should include your original artwork, payment (cash or check made out to CMEF), and a completed order form by 10/21/2024. If you received a packet from school, please leave the yellow form attached and take a picture if you want to keep one for your records. Emmy Fritz will hold onto all the yellow forms for confirmation of the product upon arrival on November 21st. If you are printing your own order form, please take a picture of your order form and keep it for your records if you so desire. Emmy will do the same.

Submit artwork, order forms, and payment by 10/21. First round of orders will be sent on 10/25 (so if you forget on 10/21, that’s ok, just let Emmy know! She’d appreciate any help sorting and distributing the products on November 21st or 22nd! It only takes an hour or so, and involves sorting and delivering to all the classrooms.

Artwork Guidelines

Every year, some artwork gets returned for not following one or more of the below rules. You will be refunded if this happens, but we’d rather you have your product!  Below the video is a written summary of the key points! you can go to this video on Youtube… or watch it right here. It’s less than 4 minutes long, and covers the Do’s and Don’ts of submitting artwork.

Paper: 8.5″ x 11″, recommended 60-70# weight, but printer paper has worked before, too. Construction paper does not reproduce true to color. Slight cropping occurs during manufacturing, so it is recommended to not put anything crucial (names and dates) beyond 1″ of the edge of the paper to ensure it doesn’t get cropped.

Approved Mediums: Markers, tempera/acrylic paint, crayons, paper collages, photos, watercolors. Bold and dark colors reproduce best! If you can see the artwork clearly across the room, it will reproduce nicely. Therefore, colored pencils are not the best choice. If you can’t see it, darken the areas that are too light to be seen, or outline the details with a marker. If you choose to use chalk/pastels, you MUST spray them with a fixative such as Krylon #1311 Matte Fixative. The art cannot rub off when wiped. If the art is sticky or color comes off on your hands, the artwork will be returned unprocessed.

DO NOT use abrasives such as glitter, sand, salt, 3d materials, scratch art/boards, and NO COPYRIGHTED or TRADEMARKED characters, symbols logos, brand names, emojis, video/cartoon/anime characters, stickers, magazine/newspaper prints.

Completing the project

Identify the artist: Use a pencil and write the artist’s first and last name, classroom name (i.e. Aspen Room, Water Room) on the BACK of the artwork.

Using a pencil, place a T on the BACK TOP of the artwork to ensure proper orientation.
