Hello, I’m Emmy! This is my son and I in 2014, during my process of becoming a Montessori Teacher. That’s when I gained organizational intelligence! We rented a room in a home right outside of the school, which was situated on a large campus with hills, a forest, and a pond. It was around then that I picked up a book off the discount rack at target called “The Magical Art of Tidying Up.” The two forces combined, and I’ve enjoyed raising my child in a consistently organized and well-kept space, despite his enjoyment in the material pleasures of toys, props, books, games, clothes, rocks, and sticks.

Order contributes to happiness! Especially for children. Although every adult does not need order, many neurodivergent adults have a deep need for order. For most humans, a tidy environment benefits the mind, emotions, and overall quality of life. Scroll down to see the specific studies that have been done around this, but for now, I’d like to offer you my services!

The end goal for my work with you is that very object has a purpose and a home. The things you own bring you joy, and you don’t feel like you have extra baggage that needs addressing. You have a process for bringing things in and taking things out of your space. Daily routine actions are seamless and keep your space tidy. If you have children in your home, we will set up the common spaces so they can partake in the activities of the household, take care of their environment when appropriate. Their spaces will be arranged so that they can take care of themselves more and more, giving them a sense of esteem, competence, and power. Strategies for managing materials as they come and go will also be addressed!

In the Montessori classroom, children learn how to “finish the work cycle”. It refers to the beginning, middle, and end of an activity. Together, you and I can go from clutter to organized, and it’ll feel complete! You will enjoy mindfulness in our surroundings. Your days will flow seamlessly from one pleasant activity to another, and peace will permeate throughout your activity. By creating harmony in your home through organization, we can foster an environment that allows you and your family to thrive.

I am based in Arvada, Colorado and am happy to serve the greater Denver area. Reach out to start your transformation!

How it works…

Depending on the size of your space and your schedule, this could happen in one work day, or over the course of a week or two. We do not want to stretch it out too long, as it can be psychologically and emotionally tiring.

You pay what you can and what it’s worth to you. This is based on my philosophy that in order to live in a world free of money, we must stop working for money. More on this mentality and trade options at this link here.

We’ll start with a conversation, where I help you visualize your ideal lifestyle and how your space can support that vision. We will explore what brought you to me, and how you envision your ideal home to look, feel, and function. You will commit to the transformation and the work!

We will tidy by category, not by room: We’ll organize items by category (clothing, books, papers, miscellaneous, and sentimental items) to make it easier to focus on what truly brings joy. We would collect all the things from different rooms into one location. These categories are:

Clothes, Books,  and then Papers, (including bills and letters) We start with these because they are emotionally the easiest thing to manage.

Komono (Miscellaneous Items, literally translates to “small items.”, and includes kitchen, bathroom, hobby, and garage items)

Sentimental Items. are the last category we will tackle, because it’s the most challenging!

For each category, we’ll work together to decide which items resonate with joy, thanking and letting go of anything that doesn’t serve you. Together we will navigate what is to be donated, and what needs to go to the trash. I can also help you sell things that are of value with online marketplaces.

Once we pair down what you will keep, we will find pleasing, efficient, practical storage solutions. Similar to how we set up Montessori environments to encourage the inherent potential of the child, we will set up your environment to encourage the potential of YOU and your family. Your space will become a place where you flourish from one thing to another, from your work to your relationships, from your hobbies to all the values your life reflects!

Mari Kondo

The KonMari Method encourages a comprehensive, focused approach, allowing for profound changes to happen quickly. I’ll guide you through the process. Depending on the size of your project (living space or work space) this can take a day or a week! I’ll support you through the often emotional process of letting go, pairing down, and coming to terms with your past with a open ears and an empathetic heart. I will encourage you towards the life you want to live, and launch you into a whole new you. Naturally, this is an extension of my goal to provide transformational coaching services to those who need it.

Let’s get you into a space that you enjoy ASAP.

A tidy, organized space has numerous benefits for the mind, emotions, and overall life outcomes, with studies supporting these claims. You can expect to reap these benefits!

Mental Clarity and Focus

A cluttered environment can lead to a cluttered mind, making it harder to focus and complete tasks. A study by Princeton University Neuroscience Institute found that physical clutter competes for your attention, reducing performance and increasing stress. (The study was called: “Interactions of Top-Down and Bottom-Up Mechanisms in Human Visual Cortex.”) In contrast, a tidy space promotes mental clarity and enhances focus, allowing individuals to process information more effectively .

Emotional Well-being

Living in a cluttered environment can lead to feelings of anxiety, stress, and even depression. Research from UCLA’s Center on Everyday Lives of Families (CELF) found that high levels of clutter in the home were linked to higher levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, particularly in women . An organized space can evoke a sense of calm, reducing anxiety and promoting emotional well-being.

Better Life Outcomes

Maintaining an organized space can also have an impact on life outcomes. A study by Indiana University showed that people with cleaner homes are more likely to be physically active, which contributes to better health outcomes. Additionally, creating a more ordered environment can foster positive habits, contributing to a more structured and successful life. If you’re interested in better health outcomes in your own life and transforming your habits, please consider looking into the story about my own personal evolution, and my transformational life coach service.

Improved Decision-Making and Productivity

The KonMari Method, which emphasizes decluttering based on what “sparks joy,” has been associated with improved decision-making skills. This method encourages mindfulness and intentionality, which can translate into other areas of life, such as work and personal goals. Research shows that people are more productive in organized spaces because they waste less time searching for things and feel more motivated. Check out the Journal of Environmental Psychology for more on that.

Emotional Attachment and Letting Go

One psychological benefit of tidying up is learning to let go of unnecessary emotional attachments. A tidy space reflects the ability to release past emotions and memories that are no longer useful, fostering a healthier relationship with the present. This can lead to greater emotional resilience and well-being .

By cultivating an organized, tidy space, you create a supportive environment for clearer thinking, emotional stability, and better overall life outcomes.
